The Role: Business Advisor or Executive Coach
You'll work as a confidant and mentor to family business owners, helping them navigate change, grow their business, and plan for transition through succession or exit.
Responsibilities include:
- Influencing and guiding the owner and company leaders through change and change management.
- Facilitating workshops focused on management improvements, strategy development, organizational development, and risk analysis.
- Delivering executive coaching and leadership development to help clients build stronger, more capable teams.
- Providing sales coaching and strategic sales planning support where it fits the engagement.
- Analyzing business plans and financial statements to properly advise the owner about investments, marketing, and potential funding opportunities.
- Developing and maintaining communication channels with the client and other stakeholders to maintain alignment with the client engagement deliverables.
- Engaging in continuous business development utilizing the brand and marketing guidelines of Ferguson Alliance.

Get Marketing and Personal Brand-Building Support
We provide marketing, sales, and administrative support. That includes podcast features, done-for-you video production, and ghostwritten articles published on our blog and shared on social media. These opportunities help you build your own personal brand alongside the Alliance.
Diverse Expertise
We value diverse backgrounds and encourage business advisors and executive coaches with different specialties to bring their unique perspectives to our team.
Flexibility
There's no office and no fixed hours. You manage your own time and can work as much or as little as you want.
What We Are Looking For
Location
Candidates based in Houston, ready to engage closely with our team and our clients.
You will work primarily from your home or on site with clients.
We're looking for two kinds of people:
Business Advisors
Professionals with a track record in the C-suite (CFO, COO, CEO, or similar) who have since moved into advisory work, whether as a fractional executive, a board member, or a consultant.
We also welcome experts in HR, succession planning, operations, legal, or finance. Any area that can support family businesses.
Executive Coaches
Coaches with real expertise in team and leadership development, backed by coaching, facilitation, and training experience.
Executive coaching credentials are a plus, though ICF certification isn't required. Right now we're especially interested in sales coaching, strategic sales planning, and workshop facilitation.

Business development will be part of your role. Ideally, you can bring a book of business, or be well-connected in the business community.
While not an absolute requirement, this is a valuable asset.
